Driver under police guard after girl killed in head-on crash

On Saturday morning, a 12-year-old girl was killed in a head-on collision with a sedan that was being driven erratically by a disqualified driver near Geelong. The accident occurred on the Princes Highway at around 9:30 am.

According to police, the sedan was traveling northbound when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with the family car, which was carrying two sisters. The younger sister died instantly, while the older sister is currently in critical condition at Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The disqualified driver, a 25-year-old man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and serious injury. He will appear in court later this week.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen the sedan being driven erratically prior to the collision.

The family of the deceased girl has been devastated by the loss of their daughter and are asking for privacy at this time.
