Crash with semi-truck in Idaho leaves child dead, 2 adults hospitalized

According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), the tragic incident occurred on early Sunday morning at around 3:30 am on Interstate 84 near the town of Malad City, Idaho. The ISP reported that a westbound Toyota Corolla, driven by a 31-year-old man from Malad City, left its lane and crossed the median, entering the path of oncoming eastbound traffic. The Toyota then collided head-on with a semi-truck.

The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota and the truck driver were both transported to the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash. The condition of the Toyota driver is currently unknown, while the truck driver's injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.

The Idaho State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Toyota may have been traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the collision. The ISP is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information related to it to contact the agency at (208) 529-1414.
