Cage The Elephant’s Matt Shultz opens up about “mental health crisis” that led to his arrest last year

In 2019, Cage The Elephant frontman Matt Shultz was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a controlled substance. He later revealed that he had been struggling with a mental health crisis at the time of his arrest.

In an interview with NME, Shultz opened up about his experience and how professional treatment helped him to regain his grip on reality and fully recover. "I was in a really dark place," he said. "I was dealing with some personal issues and I was using drugs to cope with them. It got to the point where I couldn't function properly and I ended up getting arrested."

Shultz went on to explain that after his arrest, he sought professional help and underwent treatment for his mental health issues. "I went through therapy and rehab and it was a really difficult process," he said. "But it helped me to understand what was going on in my head and how to manage it better."

Shultz also talked about the importance of seeking help for mental health issues, especially when they are affecting your daily life. "It's important to reach out for help if you're struggling," he said. "Don't be afraid to ask for help from friends, family or professionals. It can be a difficult journey, but it's worth it."

Overall, Shultz's experience serves as a reminder that mental health issues are common and treatable. Seeking professional help can help individuals better understand their condition and learn coping strategies to manage it effectively.
