The kilogram is dead; long live the kilogram

The kilogram is being redefined by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (or BIPM), but what does that mean? Instead of setting the world’s weights using a physical artifact, the International Prototype Kilogram, this metric mass will be calculated using natural constants.
