Amnesty calls for ICC to investigate killings by Israeli forces in the West Bank

Amnesty International has called for an investigation into killings by Israeli forces in the West Bank following a period of heightened violence and human rights abuses in the region. Between October 7th and December 31st, 299 Palestinians were killed in the occupied territory, including civilians, activists, and militants.

The killings have been widely condemned by international organizations and human rights groups, who argue that Israeli forces have used excessive force and targeted civilians in violation of international law. Amnesty International has documented numerous cases of extrajudicial killings, torture, and other forms of abuse committed by Israeli authorities against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The organization has called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate these crimes and hold those responsible accountable. The ICC has jurisdiction over crimes committed in the occupied territories, including war crimes and crimes against humanity, and has previously opened investigations into Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank.

However, Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute, which established the ICC, and has refused to cooperate with the court's investigations. This has led to criticism from human rights organizations and international leaders who argue that accountability for war crimes and other abuses is essential for ensuring justice and protecting human rights.

Despite this, Amnesty International has continued to call for an independent investigation into the killings by Israeli forces in the West Bank, and has urged the ICC to take action to ensure accountability and justice for the victims and their families.
