9,000 scholars targeted as Elimu scholarship selection kicks off

The Elimu Scholarship program is a government initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to students who completed their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) last year. The program aims to support secondary education accessibility across the country by targeting 9,000 scholars.

The selection process for the Elimu Scholarship program is being conducted by the government in collaboration with various stakeholders, including educational institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The program is open to all eligible students who completed their KCPE last year, regardless of their socioeconomic background or location.

To be eligible for the Elimu Scholarship program, students must meet certain criteria, such as having a minimum passing score on their KCPE exam and demonstrating financial need. The program also prioritizes students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those living in remote areas or from low-income families.

The launch of the Elimu Scholarship program was attended by various dignitaries, including Elijah Mungai, who is a Director in charge of Projects Coordination. During the launch, Mungai emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for all students to access secondary education, regardless of their background or location.

The Elimu Scholarship program is expected to have a significant impact on the education sector in Kenya by increasing access to secondary education and reducing financial barriers for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The program is part of the government's broader efforts to improve the quality of education and promote economic growth in the country.
