Bill Clinton reflects on post-White House years in the upcoming memoir 'Citizen'

Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, is set to release his new memoir titled "Citizen: An American's Journey to the White House and Beyond," which will provide an in-depth look into his life after leaving the White House in 2001. The book is scheduled to hit the shelves on September 6, 2021.

Since leaving office, Clinton has remained active in public life. He established the William J. Clinton Foundation in 2001, which focuses on various initiatives including health, climate change, economic development, and education. The foundation's most notable project is the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), which brings together world leaders, business executives, and philanthropists to address global challenges.

Clinton also resumed his career as a public speaker and author. In 2004, he published "My Life," a bestselling autobiography that covered his upbringing, political career, and personal life up to that point. "Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World," co-authored with his daughter Chelsea, followed in 2006.

In 2009, Clinton was appointed by President Barack Obama as a Special Envoy to Haiti and the Dominican Republic with the mission to help rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake that struck the country in January 2010.

Clinton's post-presidency years have not been without controversy. In 2001, he was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for lying under oath about his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. He was later acquitted by the Senate and continued to maintain a relatively high approval rating among Americans despite the scandal.

In "Citizen," Clinton is expected to discuss these events and more, offering his perspective on his personal and political life since leaving the White House. The book will provide readers with a unique insight into the former president's thoughts and experiences during this period.
