Rashee Rice turns himself over to police after multi-car Dallas car crash

On March 15, 2023, Rashee Rice, a 27-year-old resident of Dallas, Texas, surrendered to the Dallas Police Department (DPD) following an arrest warrant that was issued for him in connection with a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on March 10, 2023. The incident took place at the intersection of Elm Street and Cockrell Hill Road, near downtown Dallas, around 11:30 p.m.

According to the DPD report, Rice was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger westbound on Elm Street when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with a 2018 Toyota Camry that was traveling northbound on Cockrell Hill Road. The impact of the collision caused a chain reaction, involving three additional vehicles, including a 2019 Honda Civic, a 2020 Ford F-150, and a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.

The DPD stated that Rice fled the scene of the accident on foot, leaving behind the damaged Dodge Charger. Witnesses at the scene reportedly provided descriptions of the driver, which were later used by law enforcement to identify Rice as the suspect.

As a result of the collision, several individuals sustained injuries, and one person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The DPD confirmed that Rice is facing charges of failure to stop and render aid, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, and driving while intoxicated, among others.

Following his surrender, Rice was booked into the Dallas County Jail and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as more information becomes available. The DPD urges anyone with information regarding the incident to contact their office at (214) 671-3661 or Crime Stoppers at (214) 373-TIPS (8477).

The victims of the collision are encouraged to contact their insurance companies and the Dallas Police Department for assistance with any claims or questions they may have regarding the incident. The DPD also reminds drivers to always follow traffic laws and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
