Woman and 2 children killed in head-on crash on 15 Freeway in rainy San Bernardino County desert

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a tragic head-on collision occurred on the 15 Freeway in the rainy San Bernardino County desert, resulting in the deaths of a woman and two children. The incident took place during heavy rainfall conditions, making the roads slippery and treacherous.

The unfortunate incident involved a Kia sedan that was traveling south along the freeway. As the driver navigated through the wet conditions, the vehicle lost traction due to the slick road surface. The Kia began to hydroplane, veered out of its lane, and crossed into the northbound lanes.

Unfortunately, as the Kia entered the northbound lanes, it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Among those killed were a woman and two children. One of the deceased children was identified as a resident from Los Angeles.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly to attend to the victims and secure the area. The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the collision, with a focus on the road conditions and potential contributing factors such as speed or driver error.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of driving cautiously during adverse weather conditions. Rain can significantly impact road safety, increasing the risk of hydroplaning and other hazards. Drivers are advised to reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance, and avoid sudden maneuvers when driving in the rain.
