Woman and 2 children killed in head-on crash on 15 Freeway in rainy San Bernardino County desert

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a tragic head-on collision occurred on the 15 Freeway in the rainy San Bernardino County desert, resulting in the deaths of a woman and two children. The incident took place during heavy rainfall conditions, making the roads slippery and treacherous.

The unfortunate incident involved a Kia sedan that was traveling south along the freeway. As the driver navigated through the wet conditions, the vehicle suddenly hydroplaned, causing it to lose control. The Kia veered out of its lane and crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle in the northbound lanes.

Sadly, the woman behind the wheel of the Kia, as well as two children who were passengers in the vehicle, did not survive the collision. One of the deceased children was identified as a resident from Los Angeles. The other passengers in the Kia, including any additional children or adults, are yet to be identified or reported on by authorities.

The other vehicle involved in the collision was not identified, but its occupants were reportedly transported to local hospitals with injuries. The extent and conditions of their injuries are currently unknown.

CHP officials are investigating the cause of the collision, including the possibility that the wet road conditions may have contributed to the loss of control of the Kia. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder for drivers to exercise caution while driving during adverse weather conditions, especially heavy rainfall. It is essential to slow down, maintain a safe following distance, and avoid sudden maneuvers that could lead to loss of control.
