A gas explosion at a shopping center in Plantation managed to topple businesses and damage nearby homes. What started as a typical workout at the LA Fitness near Plantation’s Fountain Plaza ended in an escape route for Alex Hoy and dozens of others working out when the walls came crashing down. “I was about on the second machine of my workout and just heard this boom,” says Hoy. Hoy says he was forced to take cover under a workout machine when the walls came crashing down around him.
