Women don’t need to wait for a man — or for a leap year — to propose

The idea that women have to wait for a man to propose or for a leap year to ask for marriage is an outdated and patriarchal concept. In many cultures, women are expected to be passive and submissive, waiting for men to take the lead in relationships and decision-making. However, this mindset has evolved over time, and today, women have the right to propose to their partners if they choose to do so.

In fact, there is no evidence to suggest that February 29 is a special day for women to propose. The idea of using a leap year as a way to give women permission to ask for marriage is a relatively recent tradition, and it has been criticized for reinforcing gender stereotypes. Instead, the decision to propose should be based on the individual circumstances and desires of each couple.

It's important to note that while some cultures may still have traditions or customs surrounding proposals, these are not universal or binding. Ultimately, the most important thing is that both partners feel comfortable and confident in their decision to get married, regardless of when or how it happens.
